Sweep due south of 5.2 magnitude 19 Aquilae for about 2 degrees and you'll scoop up this little gem. NGC 6755 is a 7.5 magnitude open star cluster in western Aquila. It is presented in the sketch at left, which captures a 129X view in my 10-inch Meade Newtonian. The cluster is centered in the field. A string of three 9th magnitude GSC stars lie along the western border of NGC 6755. The southern-most of these, GSC 470:109, is a member of the cluster, according to Lynga. Seven 10th through 12th magnitude stars provide a framework for more than 25 fainter stars within the cluster. These fainter stars are invisible under direct scrutiny and pop into view with averted vision. They tease the senses. NGC 6756 lies 30' to the northeast, just beyond the field boundary.
