M62 resides in Ophiuchus just across the border from Scorpius. In fact, the closet bright star is 2nd magnitude Epsilon (26) Scorpii, 4.8 degrees to the south-southwest. My drawing, made at 129X with the 10-inch Starfinder, shows a fairly dense 10' diameter cluster. A line of 13th and 14th magnitude stars runs north-south through the core region. The globular has an integrated visual magnitude of 6.4 and is flanked by a pair of 11th magnitude stars to the north and south.
